This is a very important question to ponder if you plan to be married in the near future. I know when I think “Wedding Planner”, I think of Jennifer Lopez with her perfect little office, all of her perfect little solutions for all catastrophes, and of course…..the NOT perfect EXPENSE! The reality is, you can still have a wedding planner without having to take out a second mortgage on your future home. You can choose how involved you need your planner which can vary the cost of services.
I remember my wedding day very well. My husband and I planned for well over a year for our perfect special day. I am a “planner” by nature, so I did small projects so it all wouldn’t seem so overwhelming all at once. We locked in dates, got contracts signed, paid things down, made our own party favors, and communicated with our venue OFTEN. It was going to be a perfect day with NO hiccups, right? WRONG! No matter HOW far in advance you plan. No matter HOW organized you are. No matter HOW quickly you pay everything off. THINGS HAPPEN. There is NEVER a perfect day. Don’t set yourself up for a great disappointment. Plan ahead because your bridesmaids will forget their shoes at home, your best man will get pulled over for driving on a suspended license (SERIOUSLY), an unexpected rain or snowstorm will occur (or recently….a PANDEMIC), and what’s even worse? THE BRIDE CAN COME DOWN WITH PNEUMONIA THE WEEK OF THE WEDDING! Yes, that is what happened to me!
Thankfully, my parents are amazing and they were RIGHT there to step in with the loose ends. But, is that really FAIR for them? Should a parent, family member, or friend have to forfeit their enjoyment on your wedding day as a guest? In hindsight, my answer is absolutely NOT. I wish I would have hired a wedding planner….even for the sake of keeping me sane, being sure I took my medicines, and keeping my tissue box full! I’m sure if I would have had a wedding planner there, it’s possible a mystery bridesmaid (who STILL remains unknown) wouldn’t have swiped her mascara brush on my WHITE dress moments before walking down the aisle because I would have been secluded in my bridal suite having things brought to me (like hot tea and essential oils) by my amazing Wedding Planner. It’s your special day! Pamper yourself! Keep yourself sane! Let your Wedding Planner, who is completely detached emotionally from your day, help you by being the soundboard for the constant questions from the wedding party and handle any mishaps that occur.
